A SENIOR councillor and member of Lancaster City Council's cabinet is preparing to take on a new challenge.
Cllr Alex Stone, pictured, has been selected as the Liberal Democrat prospective parliamentary candidate for Morecambe and Lunesdale.
He is described by local Party Leader Ian Clift as a star candidate' who will be an effective voice for local residents all around Morecambe Bay.
And fellow councillor John Day, the current Mayor of Lancaster, adds: "Alex is a credible contender for the General Election and genuinely has the interests of local people at heart."
Cllr Stone says Morecambe and Lunesdale is a great place to live and work and he will campaign on issues including better roads, a better National Health Service, extra support for rural areas, help for pensioners, education and a fairer immigration policy.
