JIM Harvey praised the attitude of his Morecambe players after they dug deep to knock Lancaster City out of the FA Trophy on Saturday.
The extra fitness of Harvey's full-time squad and an extra touch of Conference class saw the Shrimps home on a heavy pitch at the Giant Axe.
And a delighted Harvey was aware that his men could have made the game safe by taking their chances.
"I said going into the game that the pitch is such a great leveller but on another day we may have scored seven or eight goals," says Harvey.
"I think their keeper in the first half made a couple of excellent saves and we hit the post - and it was a similar story again in the second half when we looked good on the counter attack.
"I thought we were very strong and if the play had been a bit more controlled - and that may have been down to the pitch as well - we could have had another two or three.
"I think after the first 10 minutes we took control of the game and were fairly comfortable. I don't think Adam Sollitt had a shot to save in the second half and with the conditions I thought our boys were extremely solid, kept a good shape and played very well."
