MORECAMBE have told Chester City to Twiss off' after the League Two club launched a £50,000 mission to take their former striker back to the Deva Stadium.

The Blues tabled a £50,000 bid for Michael Twiss on Monday afternoon but Morecambe's board were quick throw that out, believing the 27-year-old star is the main man for them.

Twiss (pictured) has bagged 16 goals for the Shrimps this season as they aim for the Football League and says: "I am certainly not looking for a move from here at all."

Twiss is the second Morecambe star to be tracked by a League Two club in the last 10 days.

Rochdale have made two bids for Wayne Curtis but again Morecambe turned Dale down.

Curtis told the Citizen: "I have heard about the interest in me from Rochdale and it is very flattering but I am a Morecambe player and want to do my best for Morecambe and help us into the play-offs and eventually into the same league as Rochdale.

"I do not know anything about it really other than what I have read and they have been turned down so it's out of my hands. But it would be lovely to be in the same league as them next season."

For boss Jim Harvey the news is excellent as he looks ahead to Saturday's Nationwide Conference showdown with Aldershot.

The Shrimps are currently in 12th spot in the Conference but are only two points off the top five with games in hand on most of their rivals.

And the clash with second-placed Aldershot six points ahead of Harvey's men but having played two games more promises to be pivotal.

"It's a big game but then again they all are," Harvey says.

"We are in a good bit of form but Aldershot are a decent side and our fans could play a big part.

"They were magnificent at Lancaster in the Trophy and I hope they continue to back us."
