AN Outdoor clothing company has secured the future of the Lake District National Park Authority's threatened free-guided walks for another year.
Hawkshead has stumped up the £38,000 needed to keep the walks going for 2005.
Members of the Lake District National Park Authority voted to save the walks through the external funding at a special meeting on Monday. A spokesman for Hawkshead said: "They (voluntary ranger-led walks) make a visit to the Fells educational, enjoyable and safe, and as a business that is passionate about the Lakes, Hawkshead is helping to secure their future for the enjoyment of all people."
