A GOVERNMENT report has confirmed fears for South Lakeland television viewers with an already poor reception.

They have a higher chance of receiving no picture at all when the current analogue service is replaced by a digital one in two years time.

The report carried out by the telecommunications regulator OFCOM echoes the concerns raised by Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Collins last November.

"It is now beholden on the government to use a tiny fraction of the money it intends to raise from selling off the old analogue signal to provide adequate coverage throughout south Cumbria before the old system is switched off and local televisions are plunged into darkness," he said.
