SUPPORTERS are needed in the Furness and South Lakeland area by Marie Curie Cancer Care to make its annual Great Daffodil Appeal a success.
The appeal - including numerous street and supermarket collections and more than 1,000 boxes being placed in shops and businesses in Cumbria, north Lancashire and the Isle of Man will be launched in March, and in the past has raised more than £40,000.
All the money will be spent locally on providing free nursing care for terminally ill cancer patients who have chosen to spend their final days in the comfort of their own home.
To ensure its success, volunteers who are willing to donate just two hours of their time to take part in a street or supermarket collection are desperately needed.
Zoe Casson, community fund-raising manager, said: "By helping for two hours at a collection people raise enough money to provide a whole night of care for someone in the area."
Ms Casson said: "We are really struggling to staff all our collections with volunteers so any offer of help would be appreciated. The more volunteers who help, the more money we will raise for the charity."
