SOME of the country's brightest young musicians are on their way to Lancaster University this month.
Tomorrow (Thursday) will see the Royal Northern College of Music's Chamber Orchestra returns to the Lancaster International Concert Series in The Great Hall.
Baldur Brnnimann will conduct a programme focussing on the work of four very different composers to show off the burgeoning skills of the students from the college's schools of strings, wind and percussion.
The ensemble (pictured) is a regular part of the International Concert Series, always attracting an audience eager to see and hear talented musicians of the future. Tickets are priced at £16, £13 and £10.
Then, on February 10, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra takes to the stage as the concert series explores another genre.
The NYJO was a huge hit in its debut Lancaster concert last year and returns to perform a selection of works from its repertoire interspersed with requests from the audience.
A glittering showcase for hot' young musicians, the orchestra has a long history of producing generations of talented jazz players and has four times been voted best British big band.
egend John Dankworth says: "Forget the word youth, this is one of the best bands you will ever hear."
Tickets are £13 and £10.50.
The box office for both concerts is on 01524-594151.
