DENNIS Potter fans should get down to Lancaster's Duke's Theatre as scenes from a glorious 1940s child-hood come to the stage starting this week.

Blue Remembered Hills sees a cast of seven adult actors playing seven-year-olds in the Forest of Dean and audiences are guaran-teed a great night at the Moor Lane venue.

The kids are mucking about in their native woodland, some are of them noisy and bossy while others are nervous and unsure.

They all feel and express the effects of growing up during the war in their different ways in a cult play which is at turns funny and sad as it follows the children's adventures on an unsupervised summer's afternoon while they play, argue, fight and explore.

It stars ex-Emmerdale star Anthony Bessick, Darren Cheek, Eamonn Fleming, Howard Gossington, Glyn Pritchard and a duo well known to Dukes' regulars Vanessa Clarke and Claire Vousden who brought the house down last year in Abigail's Party.

The show opens on Friday and runs until February 26. To book tickets, call the box office on 01524-598500.
