LANCASTER pool practitioner Wayne Corless has been picked to play for England in the World Championships.
Wayne, pictured, will break off in April as part of England's 11-man team against the likes of Scotland, Wales, Ireland, India and France.
The call up is the highlight of a 20-year journey for 37-year-old Wayne, who started playing the game at the age of 17.
Last year he flew the St George's flag high as a member of the victorious England team in the European Championships.
Wayne plays for Squires Snooker Centre and also for the West Yorkshire county team and national champions Hotshots from Pontefract.
And now the city council labourer is ready to step up his practice sessions in time for the championships in Bridlington in April.
"To play for your country is a big step for anyone and an achievement," says Wayne.
