THERE is still an opportunity for people to have their say on how much council tax they will pay next year.
Until February 17, taxpayers can give their opinion on the tough budget conundrums that Cumbria County Council bosses say that they face in setting the budget for 2005/06.
Government ministers have ordered that no rise should be greater than five per cent, while also demanding the council meets legal requirements for spending in areas such as education. CCC has also had to take on new responsibilities for social services and the fire service.
Coun Mike Ash, deputy leader of the council and budget spokesman, said that the Government's grant did not provide enough cash to meet spending targets.
He added: "Even if people simply want to tell us what they think the council tax rate should be, we would still welcome their comments."
