A £140,000 scheme to renew signs and replace a three-mile stretch of the A66 eastbound carriageway between Appleby bypass and the Warcop junction with a brand new smoother and quieter surface began on Monday (January 31).
Signs that have reached the end of their useful life will be replaced with ones that have larger lettering to meet modern standards of legibility for traffic travelling at 70mph. A 40mph speed limit will be in force until the work is completed on February 28.
