I REFER to recent articles in the local press which report that three-quarters of the people in the Lancashire Police Authority district are prepared to sustain an inflation busting tax increase of £15 to maintain or improve present levels of police service.
The reports refer to local representatives' of the public but fail to identify who these people are.
I have yet to discover any friends, colleagues or members of my family who have been consulted. And all of the ones I spoke to stated they were not prepared to pay an inflation busting increase for a presently unaccountable, ineffective and inefficient police service.
Are the results of this authority run survey statistically significant? How many Lancaster and Morecambe council tax payers were consulted and submitted a response to the survey?
Did any Citizen readers take part in this survey and could they help in identifying who the local representatives' are.
S Williams, Morecambe.
