IT'S Morecambe v Carlisle round three after the Shrimps saw off Scarborough to earn a Christie Park clash with the Cumbrians.
The Conference Cup may not exactly capture the imagination of fans only 406 turned out on Tuesday but the 2-1 win sets up a titanic tussle between two sides who thrilled over Christmas.
The 1-1 Boxing Day draw between the sides was a thriller followed a week later by a 3-3 Brunton Park draw.
That's why Tuesday's win meant so much and Morecambe were well worth their success.
They dominated for long periods and went in front through a Michael Twiss penalty after Colin Cryan tried to kick the striker into the Carwash.
But the lead didn't last long as Scarborough scored a penalty of their own through ex-Leeds United striker Tony Hackworth following Iain Swan's spot of all-in wrestling with Keith Gilroy.
Shrimps were always on top after the break with Lee Elam and Twiss going close before the game descended into a period of inactivity. But Morecambe won it when Garry Thompson headed home Elam's cross as the clock ran down.
There was still time for a late flurry from the Seadogs but Jimmy Kelly cleared Cryan's effort off the line.
MORECAMBE: Sollitt, Howard (Kelly 24), Blackburn, Swan (Ruffer 76), Bentley, Elam, Curtis, Twiss, Hunter, Walmsley, Thompson (Carlton 90). Subs (not used): Robinson, Dodgson.
