THIEVES stole a collection box for victims of the tsunami from Ambleside Post Office this week.
The collection had been organised by Ambleside Kirkstone Rotary Club and the boxes had only been put in the post office after a planned street collection had to be cancelled due to bad weather.
Secretary of the club Allison Peak said that she was "shocked" by the theft and was also concerned that, as it had an appeal sticker on it, it may be used to collect money under false pretences.
