The Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, is to be the special guest at the CBI North West's Economic Dinner in Manchester on Thursday 20 January.
The "on the record" speech is one of only a handful that the Governor makes each year and will take place before an audience of 250 specially invited business people from across the North West.
Commenting on the event, Damian Waters, Regional Director of the CBI North West said: "I am delighted that the Governor accepted my invitation to speak in the North West and I am looking forward to hearing his speech. The Governor is one of few people who can alter the course of the economy simply by speaking in public, and I am sure that our guests are keenly anticipating the dinner.
The national and international media will be listening and it is a tremendous opportunity for the business community in the North West, through the CBI, to hear directly from the Governor."
