YOUNG farmers have been congratulating themselves on an "excellent year of competition" at their annual meeting.
Engaging in everything from public speaking competitions to stock judging, president Claire Todd said there was something out there for everyone to do.
She also recapped on the many fund-raising stunts YFC members completed in 2004 including a sponsored cycle, row and climb from Lowick to Coniston. Young Farmers also worked for free to fix a playing field wall for the Cartmel Village Amenities Trust.
YFC president Linda Park said: "The enthusiasm shone from all of you. Apart from all the skills we learn, the main thing YFC gives our members is friendship and a sense of community."
The new officers elected for 2005 were: George Redmayne, Crook YFC, as president, with Mary Todd, Grayrigg YFC, as vice-president. Tony Mason, Pennine YFC, is the new chairman; with Jonathan Schug, Eden Valley YFC, as vice-chairman. Minute secretary is Lauren Galbraith, Grayrigg YFC; competitions secretary is Sarah Long, Furness YFC; and social secretary is Jenny Craghill, Crook YFC.
