MORECAMBE managed to get through their first FA trophy test against Sutton Coldfield Town but are not thinking about the Trophy yet.

They travel to York on Saturday and face Scarborough in the Conference Cup at Christie Park next Tuesday night.

But it's the trip to Bootham Crescent - now renamed the Kit-Kat Crescent as the result of a sponsorship deal - that occupies the Morecambe minds as they aim to extend their nine-match unbeaten run.

They face crisis club York at the end of a week to forget for the Minstermen. Since their relegation from the Football League nothing has gone right.

They appointed then sacked Chris Brass as player-manager but kept him as a player. Now his replacement Viv Busby has tried to quit but the board refused to accept his resignation.

And Brass, still their captain, has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

"They have had their problems but I would rather concentrate on us," says Shrimps' boss Jim Harvey, who intends to hold talks with Lee Elam over an extended contract in the next week.

"We are on a nice run and we are looking to keep that going to mount a charge - though I would prefer to be in Barnet's position at the top."

MORECAMBE have been drawn with Accrington Stanley in the quarter-final of the Lancashire Marsden Trophy. The game - a re-run of last year's final - will be played on Tuesday, February 1 at Christie Park.

The Shrimps are also in action on Tuesday when they welcome Scar-borough to Christie Park in the Conference Cup.
