THE pop success story of the last 12 months has undoubtedly been the Scissor Sisters.
To date the band has sold in excess of one million copies in the UK alone of their self-titled debut album and the sales show no sign of slowing down.
Hailing from New York, the Scissor Sisters are all about fun, as anyone who has witnessed one of their live shows will agree. They are as camp as can be and in lead singer Jake Shears, they have a truly outrageous frontman who makes primetime Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger and Elton John look rather shy.
Scissor Sisters' music has strong Seventies pop influences but they manage to stamp their own style and personality on the overall sound with ease.
Some suspect that the band could yet prove to be a one album wonder. We shall just have to wait and see but they have promised a second album for later this year.
Recently released is a full-length DVD from the group entitled, We Are Scissor Sisters. And So Are You', and if you thought that it was going to be just another DVD full of music videos, think again.
The DVD includes the documentary Return To Oz' directed by Julien Temple (of The Great Rock n' Roll Swindle/Absolute Beginnners fame) and it tells the definitive Scissor Sisters story with never before seen early footage of the band performing on the New York club circuit and the band meeting U2's Bono and recording in the studio with Kylie.
There is a separate 10 minute film piece directed by Andy Soup, which has the Scissor Sisters all dressed up as characters from the Wizard Of Oz.
And for those who haven't yet seen one of the group's phenomenal live shows, there is a full live concert filmed at the Brighton Dome in August of this year.
It was a show the NME said shows Scissor Sisters really know how to throw a party' and had the Observer saying one word could be heard as people left the building fabulous.
The DVD also features all of the Scissor Sisters music promos including the rare original video for Laura' and you can catch a live performance of Music Is The Victim' filmed live in Benicassim in the summer, which has the outrageous Jake Shears wearing only a towel.
If all that wasn't enough, while searching through the five different menu screens, look out for each Scissor Sister entertaining you in their own unique way.
We have five copies of the We Are Scissor Sisters..And So Are You' DVD up for grabs this week, and in order to be in with a chance of winning on, just tell me which supergroup of the 1970s/early 80's originally recorded the song Comfortably Numb'.
