I WRITE to inform people about the appalling way in which gamebirds are being reared.
Over the Christmas period the shooting industry was attempting to market intensively reared pheasant and partridge as some sort of free-range, natural alternative to factory farmed meat.
Yet the truth is that cruelty, cannibalism and severe overcrowding were observed at a number of British game farms.
Three major supermarket chains Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose were all selling intensively reared game in some of their stores over Christmas.
People can do their bit to help improve the way animals are treated by not buying any of these products.
