VE DAY will be remembered at a special event in Lancaster in May.

A City and Community Remembers will feature a march from the city's historic castle to the Remembrance Gardens, where organisers hope to hand over the names all the VE Day dead and those from the area during the first World War to the mayor.

The names will be contained in books of honour and those volumes will then be kept in Lancaster town hall.

The event is planned for Sunday, May 8, and commemorates 60 years since peace was declared in Europe.

If anyone wishes to find out any more details, or would like to be part of the even, contact the chair of the Lancaster Military Heritage Group Sheila Denwood on 01524-65467.
