SWIMMING: Three youngsters swam 22 miles or the equivalent of the English Channel for charity. Twelve-year-olds Jonathan Bell, Sam Watkins, and Jake Phillips, all from Appleby, swam the distance over just 12 weeks to raise money for spinal cord injury charity ASPIRE. Jonathan's mother, Anne Bell, said her son simply picked up a leaflet from his local swimming club and he and his two friends decided to take part. The three boys were successful in raising £380 pounds.
