TABLE TENNIS: Kirkby Stephen's Ben Lindridge became the first player outside Kendal to win table tennis's Jugend Von Kendal trophy last Tuesday, emerging best of 48 competitors on home ground at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School. A record turnout played for the trophy, donated by the people of Rinteln as a junior competition for the youth of Kendal and the surrounding area. In the final, Lindridge dealt with everything that was thrown at him by Dallam's attack-minded Jonathan Hyman. After a minor scare in the third game, Lindridge took the title 11-7, 11-4, 11-13, 11-8.
