RUNNING: Runners of all abilities are invited to take part in the Kendal Winter League series of races that are held on 13 Sundays.
Points are given to competitors for their best ten races with prizes awarded at the end of the season in April. Races range in severity from cross-country type events to steep up and down fell races.
The junior races are keenly competed with categories for under 17s, under 14s and under 12s.
All races are held on a Sunday and the first ones were held on Scout Scar, Kendal, on Sunday. Other dates in the series are: January 16, Burton, Gallaber Farm, Burton-in-Lonsdale; January 23, Fairmile, Howgill, Sedbergh (GR 629-980); January 30, Staveley Head, Birkfield Farm, Staveley; February 6, Whitestone, Staveley-in-Cartmel; February 13, Barbondale, Barbon to Dent Road; February 20, Birkrigg Common, Mountbarrow Road, Ulverston; February 27, Winder, Auction Mart, Sedbergh; March 6, Troutbeck, Pool Bank Farm, Troutbeck; March 13, Langcliffe, near Settle; March 20, Elterwater Common, Langdale; April 3, Austwick (GR 767-684); Helm Hill, Oxenholme, Kendal.
