MORE gales and persistent rain are expected to hit the region this evening (Tuesday).
The Met Office issued a UK Advance Warning of Severe Weather at 9.09am this morning for the North of England including Cumbria, Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.
Wet and windy weather is expected to set in by this afternoon followed by gale force winds and more rain into the night.
The warning states some damage to trees and buildings is likely and driving conditions will be dangerous.
The Environment Agency has also today re-issued a Flood Watch on the River Eden at Appleby.
They advise anyone with concerns to contact the Floodline which contains up to date advice on the situation, 24 hours a day.
