SEVERE storm weather ravaged many parts of Cumbria and Eden over the weekend leaving thousands of residents to cope with floods, road closures and damage to property.
Hours of rain accompanied by strong gale force winds of up to 80mph contributed to some of the most adverse weather conditions the area has seen in decades.
Emergency service crews were forced to rescue and the Environment Agency issued warnings throughout the region and assisted with flood prevention such as filling extra sandbags.
Elsewhere in the region, fallen trees blocked numerous roads as teams of workers from the Environment Agency strove to clear the way.
