Rail death hold-up RAIL services through South Lakeland were disrupted on Wednesday after a 31-year-old man was struck by a train and sustained fatal injuries on a level crossing at Hest Bank, near Morecambe.
British Transport Police said the 06.34 Stafford to Edinburgh train struck the man shortly before 9am. Inquiries are continuing as to how the man came to be on the railway but police say thay are not treating the death as suspicious.
The West Coast Main Line was closed for almost two hours.
