A LANCASTER man has been appointed to look after part of the heritage of the Arnside and Silverdale area.
Richard Bamforth has been named as the new Limestone Project Officer for the land around the two Morecambe Bay villages a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
He has been handed a two-and-a-half year project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which has already invested £306,000 in the area.
Born in Huddersfield and holding a degree in countryside manag-ement, Richard has previously worked in the Forest of Bowland and says he is sure he will be able to use his experience to benefit the Arnside district.
Priorites are to ensure that 14 walling cont-racts currently in hand are completed on time.
More than 100 improvement schemes, involving rebuilding dry stone walls, restoring lime kilns, pond conservation and access improvements, are planned during the next two years.
