Sir, I write on behalf of myself and four friends who have been travelling to the Lakes for many years, specifically to take advantage of the water skiing on Windermere.
We have stayed in both rented accommodation on the lake itself, the marina and also in the village of Winster.
All of these locations have afforded us use of a holiday destination that allows us to water ski, walk and cycle at all times of the year. We have, in turn, been prolific with our support of the local economy by procuring support services for boat and bikes - buying equipment and of course spending time in the local restaurants and fantastic selection of village pubs.
We are all from the north west of England, but currently reside in London. The main attraction of the Lakes is not only the beautiful scenery but the ability to water ski on such a large stretch of water.
If water skiing is to effectively end on Windermere then the main attraction for us to visit this part of the country will also come to an end.
We are safe and responsible boat owners for whom the lake is only part of our reason for visiting but is the only unique feature of the Lakes that can attract us to travel this distance.
I support the safe use of the lake and I'm sure that with a little creative thinking this current proposal could be adapted to accommodate all lake users.
