BRYSON'S Brewery is no more - after owners George and Caroline Palmer decided to cease trading.
And that means fans of the Shrimpers' Stout and Quayside beer have less than a month to swig their final mouthfuls of the favourite tipples.
George and Caroline, pictured, started brewing four years ago and won nationwide acclaim for their pints of pleasure but they have called it a day because they were getting no personal life.
Says George: "Financially the business was beginning to take off but at a cost that we could not pay.
"Caroline and I found it had taken over our lives and to change that we would have had to expand and spend another two years or so putting even more into the business.
"It got to a stage where we had to ask ourselves what we wanted to be."
Just two months ago, Bryson's Barrows Bitter was chosen by supermarket giant Tesco to flavour its fish in beer batter and that put George and Caroline on the national map.
But the last pints rolled out of the Heysham brewery at the end of October and Bryson's will cease to exist when all its remaining stocks are sold.
Says George: "It's a real shame and it was sad when the last brew was complete but we have made the right decision. There were so many problems on top of brewing, selling and bookwork.
"We had things like certain customers refusing to pay on time and then there were other things which, when all added up, meant closing was the most sensible option for our health.
"We have had some real highs and at the end of the day we have made some good friends and brewed some pretty beers. If I can say that then it has all been worth it."
