IT'S getting tight at the top of the North Lancashire League with top dogs Kirkby Lonsdale and CCM Dynamos both being held to draws at the weekend.
Kirkby were involved in the match-of-the-day with highly rated Marsh United, but neither side was able to hit the target despite an end-to-end tussle throughout an exciting 90 minutes.
And CCM travelled to Cartmel determined to avenge a 1-0 reverse at the start of the season but had to settle for one point.
Dean Richards gave Cartmel the lead, but after Mark Wiggins levelled matters at 1-1 the game petered out into a stalemate.
Squires saw their promising start to the season dented by in-form Ingleton 3-2 the score in favour of the villagers.
After a goalless first half it was Ingleton who made most of the running as Phil Eccleston, Oliver Driver and Chris Jackson all scored.
By way of contrast, Slyne with Hest are starting to climb up the table after an horrendous start to the season which saw them lose their opening four games on the bounce.
Vernon Middleton, Andy Goulding and Tony Morgan (2) were all on target in a hard-fought 4-2 win over Power Station, with Lee Watson and Paul Malcolm scoring in reply.
In Division One, leaders Highgrove turned on the style to overrun struggling Millhead 8-1 though it took them a while to make the initial breakthrough.
The top dogs led 2-0 at the break and might have thought it was not their day when Millhead pulled it back to 2-1 against the run of play. But eventually Ian Monks, Russ Mitchell (2), Luke Ogley (2), Lee Brade, Damon Grayom and Scott Doherty all got a slice of the goal action.
City Contract Services lost ground on the leaders when they were surprisingly turned over 3-1 by Storey Res.
Paul Fraser gave Storeys the lead only for Alan Coultas to level the scores before half time and then it was all Storeys as Fraser again and Tim Meacham found the net.
