RESIDENTS of Grange-over-Sands are to become Place Detectives' October 30 at a day long, 10am-5.30pm, event organised by South Lakeland District Council.
Local people have been invited along to the Victoria Hall to explain what they value most about the town's buildings and urban spaces and what aspects of the architecture make it such a distinctive place.
They will be able to vote for their favourite or least favourite buildings, borrow an instant camera to record the town's architectural and historic interest, look at historic maps and aerial photographs to see how the resort has developed plus games and competitions.
SLDC's Graham Darlington said the event was part of a review of all the district's conservation areas. A similar event held in Ulverston in July attracted nearly 200 people and a number of follow-up meetings with residents have been held to consider aspects of the draft conservation area report for the town.
