MORECAMBE'S eight-match winning run was brought to a shuddering Christie Park halt by Stevenage Borough.
The Shrimps seemed to be on their way to a nonchalant nine when they went into the lead within seconds of the kick off.
But Borough stunned the locals with three second half goals to return South with the points.
The game started ideally for Morecambe when they stunned Stevenage after just 35 seconds.
Chris Blackburn's free kick was only half cleared by the Borough defence and Keiran Walmsley blasted a sensational drive into the net with goalkeeper Andy Woodman reduced to the role of spectator.
Despite the start, the game never really kicked into life with a midfield battle on the cards.
Boro' were dangerous on the break but Morecambe looked more likely to add to their advantage when Wayne Curtis curled a shot just over before producing a crafty cross which was just too quick for Danny Carlton to reach.
There was a scare for the Shrimps just before the interval when Boro' had the ball in the net after an error from keeper Adam Sollitt only to see the effort ruled out for offside.
Stevenage were the better side after the break as Morecambe, without the suspended Michael Twiss, struggled to get their momentum going.
And the game was turned on its head with the double whammy of two goals in three minutes.
Dannie Bulman set them both up with corners, firstly Jason Goodliffe planting a header beyond Sollitt before Matt Hocking headed past the keeper.
David Perkins tried his best to clear Hocking's effort but the referee ruled the ball had crossed the line.
The sudden shock of being behind spurred Morecambe to their best spell of the game with Walmsley going close again before substitute Terry McFlynn saw a shot roll agonisingly the wrong side of the post.
The Shrimps were pouring men forward at this stage with McFlynn being denied by Woodman but they were hit by a sucker punch in stoppage time as Boro' killed the game.
The lively Bulman broke clear and found Jon Brady, who drilled an unstoppable shot past Sollitt to make it 3-1.
MORECAMBE: Sollitt, Walm-sley, Perkins, Swan, Bentley (Rogan 73), Heard (Howard 89), Thompson, Carlton (McFlynn 53), Blackburn, Hunter, Curtis. Subs not used: Osborne, Robinson.
