THE Highways Agency has issued a warning to drivers to take more care on the roads over the next few days, with heavy rain and strong winds affecting South Lakeland.
All vehicle owners were reminded to adjust their driving technique to compensate for the poor conditions.
Motorcycle riders and drivers of high-sided vehicles were particularly advised to take more care.
The HA, which runs England's motorways and trunk roads, advised drivers to: slow down and keep back from the vehicle in front, check the latest weather and road information before you set off, truck, caravan and motorbike owners should take extra care when wind is forecast, and after driving through floodwater, test your brakes.
For weather information, listen to radio broadcasts or go to the Met Office website at www.metoffice.gov.uk.
For information about road conditions contact the agency's information line on 0845 7504030 or go to www.highways.gov.uk.
