A mountain rescue team has warned walkers to plan ahead for days on the fells as the nights get longer.
The Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team issued the advice after 36 team members and two search dogs saved a family lost on a fell.
The 38-year-old parent, along with two children aged 12 and ten, got lost in mist on Langdale Pikes, near Pavey Ark.
They had no map, no torch, no waterproofs and little experience.
The team tried to talk them down but due to the severity of the weather and lack of useful information from the walkers they had to launch a search.
The three people were found at Stickle Tarn at 4.02pm on Sunday, October 24 and walked to safety.
