ONE of the most bizarre jobs in England a daily trip to the top of the Lake District's second highest peak, is up for grabs.
The search is on for a hardy soul to scale the heights of Helvellyn and check weather conditions at its 950-metre (3,114ft) summit, as part of a crucial weather service used by 200,000 people a year.
Applicants will take on the roles of both a National Park ranger and a meteorologist and must be prepared to carry a 40lb rucksack of equipment to the summit. Mountaineering skills, the ability to use a map and compass, and assess snow and ice conditions, are essential - according to the Lake District National Park Authority.
For more information check the Employment Section of the LDNPA's website at www.lake-district.gov.uk. The closing date for applications is November 5.
