AFTER last season's successful National Schools rugby KO Cup campaign, boys from Lancaster Royal Grammar School are back on the glory trail again.
Last season the LRGS team made it all the way to the semi-final before going out to eventual winners Coulston's Collegiate Schoo, from Bath.
This year's run begun when the school beat a useful Hutton Grammar side 38 - 0 at Tarleton RUFC last Wednesday.
Even though the majority of last season's team have now left the school, the new team has quickly developed into a promising unit which proved too much for a spirited Hutton side.
Hutton enjoyed the best of the early exchanges with possession and territorial advantages made more noticeable by Lancaster's difficulty in handling a slippery ball.
But mid way through the first half Lancaster captain Selorm Kuadey caught an attempted clearance kick line and used his pace to score a sensational try.
Five minutes later, following a good break by Tom Crookall, Kuadey went over again and Adam Armstrong added the conversion to give Lancaster a 12-point advantage as they turned round with the wind now in their favour.
As a result, LRGS dominated in the second half and Jack Payne used his pace to score two tries and further tries as Lloyd Richardson and Jay Ashton-Yamnikar also got on the score sheet - and Armstrong added three more conversions.
LRGS now face the winners of the tie between Merchant Taylors', Crosby and Runshaw College.
