KIRKBY Stephen Grammar School Sports College recognised the hard work and dedication of students who give their free time to helping others by presenting Junior Sports Leader Awards.
At a special assembly, the student, who give up their time out of school hours to help others, were presented with their awards by head teacher David Keetley.
Head of Girls PE Janette McWhirter said: "The Sports Leader Awards are intended to encourage people to volunteer to become coaches and organisers of sport in their communities.
"At the same time it makes it possible for participants to develop their own self-confidence and leadership qualities, both of which can make all the difference when it comes to finding a job."
The course which the award-winners completed included working on organisation and communication skills, health and fitness, fair play in sport, looking at the role of the umpire and opportunities in sport as well as requiring candidates to plan and deliver a sports session on their own for a minimum of one hour.
