BUILDING work is now finished at Mossgate Primary School, Heysham, where two new classroom spaces and a meeting room are complete.
The school is marking its 10th year by expanding its facilities for children and staff by day while also offering community space for after-school use.
For instance, the Adult College in Lancaster - which helped to fund the project - is planning to run courses from the new building, which will also house local groups.
The school is also working towards holding breakfast and after-school clubs in the extension.
Money for the project was generously provided by the Morecambe and Heysham Rotary club, as well as Heysham power stations, pupils, parents and school funds.
Kendal-based Cox and Allen carried out the work, managed by Lancashire Property Group, and are due to officially hand over the keys at a ceremony at the school on October 18.
We are inviting local people to join us both then and during an Open Week' all next week to look behind the scenes of one of the area's newest schools and have a say on how on the new rooms, which also have a kitchen area, could be used by the community.
Chris Lawler, Head Teacher, Mossgate primary school.
