"THE Gazette described us a Jekyll and Hyde side and that has summed us up exactly so far this season.

"Every time we have scored first we have gone on to win, so I get a bit jittery when we don't.

"On Tuesday we played football that was exciting to watch, particularly after the second goal went in, and I do not believe it was a coincidence that Mercer and Ashcroft were returning from suspension.

"Mercer is a commanding presence in midfield and he is still only 20 with a lot of football years left in him. Unfortunately he picked up his fourth yellow card during the game. Ashcroft showed his quality with both his goals.

"I took Mercer and Taylor off after the fourth goal went in purely as a precautionary measure on the advice of our physio, as they had both taken heavy knocks, but they will both be fit for Friday's trip to Clitheroe in the FA Trophy.

"I have no trepidation about going back to Clitheroe, who we beat 5-0 in the league a fortnight ago, but generally we have got to get it right on away trips, which may mean a bit of tinkering with the formation.

"We picked up no injuries on Tuesday night and long-term injured Lee Clitheroe and Chris Bennett should be available for selection in a couple of weeks while Stuart Cliff is still recovering from an operation."

n On Tuesday Warrington Town vist Parkside in a UniBond League First Division match. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
