A weekend packed with laughs comes to the Platform from Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 October.

Lancaster City Council's Morecambe Comedy Weekend features performances by Richard Herring, Jeremy Hardy, Jeff Green and the Horse and Bamboo Theatre Company.

The Weekend starts on the Thursday with Richard Herring's new show about his mid-life crisis, The Twelve Tasks of Hercules Terrace.

Depressed and disorientated after splitting up with his girlfriend, moving house and being stricken with writers cramp, he resolves to take inspiration from the bust of Hercules that graces the front of his new home and perform twelve impossible or arduous labours in the hope of giving his 37 years on this planet some kind of meaning. Will the small fat man from Somerset prove he is a match for the bronzed and toned Roman demi-god? Or, more likely, will he not? 8pm, tickets £12/£10.

On the Friday evening, popular stand up comedian and satirist, Jeremy Hardy takes to the stage with his own blend of political and topical humour. A regular radio programme guest, newspaper columnist and festival performer, Jeremy has been described as "One of the sharpest comedians on the circuit" by the Guardian. 8pm tickets £12/£10 Award winning comedian, Jeff Green, will appear on the Saturday evening. Jeff has established himself as one of the most popular comics working in the UK today with his razor sharp observations combined with an abundance of natural charm. A regular performer at comedy festivals all over the world, Jeff is a frequent guest on TV shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks, So They Think its all Over and Jo Brand's Hot Potatoes. 8pm, tickets £12/£10 The finale of the weekend is a Theatre Production by Horse and Bamboo A Strange (And Unexpected) Event! which recreates the vivacious and colourful setting of the Mexican Celebration "The Day of the Dead". It depicts giant Snails, earthquakes, skeletons riding bikes, bold heroes, red devils, miracles and much more, and is suitable for children over the age of 8. This show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £7 adults, £5 concessions.
