PEOPLE power persuaded members of a town council to change their minds over a planning recommendation.
A group of 13 people attended Windermere Town Council to ask councillors to alter their views about a planning application for a workshop at North Terrace in Bowness.
In September, the council had agreed to recommend approval for an extension to provide three flats above a workshop at CPM Windermere Ltd. Members thought the Lake District National Park Authority should grant permission provided there was a local occupancy clause.
However, the residents who attended the town council meeting said they were concerned that the members had not had all the information.
Lorraine Griffiths, who was speaking on behalf of the whole group, said that they were not certain the council had been aware that what was a one-storey building was to become a three-storey building under the plans.
Residents were concerned that the height of the building would affect the views from the bed and breakfast establish-ments on Biskey Howe Road.
They were also worried about introducing residential accommodation into what they described as a light industrial area.
Members unanimously agreed to Coun Jennifer Borer's suggestion that they should change their recommendation to ask the LDNPA members to go on a site visit before deciding the application.
