SOUTH Lakeland MP Tim Collins has this week launched a campaign to safeguard local television services when the Government switches off all existing non-satellite TV signals in 2007.

As reported in The Westmorland Gazette, the Border TV area will be the first region in the country to experience the switch-off of current analogue services despite the region having virtually no digital TV capability at present.

Mr Collins, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, has launched an on-line campaign which can be accessed via his website www.timcollins.co.uk
