LOCAL neighbours Wayne Sisson from Holme and Carnforth's Stuart Newby put South Cumbria on the score sheet at the National British Trial & Rally Drivers Association Series penultimate round, the Plains Rally.
After competing throughout the year, in nine rounds around the country, Sisson is in fourth place in the overall Championship with Newby in sixth. Sisson a former BTRDA Series 1600 class winner is also leading N4 for showroom specification cars.
Newby took fifth place in his TEG Sport Subaru, whilst Sisson was one second behind in the Group N Arnside Motorsport Mitsubishi Evolution 4.
The Escort Cosworth of Millhead's Ian Joel was running well place before gremlins attacked it on the third stage, while Morecambe's Shelley Rogerson had similar luck as she and driver John Perrott were in second spot when they got into difficulties on the sixth stage.
