GREAT Britain Gymnastic Team member Glenn Smith got off to a flying start at Kirkby Stephen Primary School where he held a fund-raising Get Fit Kids event.
Kirkby Stephen Primary School pupils Abbey O'Connor-Ramsey, 5; Mark Tyson, 6; Jordan Winder, 5; and Emilie Handley, 5, got an underview of Glenn's gymnatic exercises, which included jumping over the young audience, and landing with a forward roll. Glenn showed the primary school children warm-up exercises they could practise themselves, before giving the champions demonstration - that was strictly not to try at home. The children were sponsored to take part in the gym exercises and 50 per cent of the money raised will go towards new PE equipment for the school and the other 50 per cent will go to finance equipment for other groups through Get Fit Kids. Glenn said: "Get Fit Kids have just given money to a disabled gym club in Birmingham which has some members competing for Team GB in the Para-Olympics in Athens."
