A community policeman is urging Carnforth to consider installing closed circuit television cameras.
PC Barry Lees said two cameras which were able to swivel 360 degrees, one at the train station and one at the town centre crossroads, would cut crime in the town.
He said: "It's my personal campaign. The dividends are immense."
PC Lees said the cameras would stop crimes like the armed robbery in August, when men burst into the town's Barclays branch and terrorised staff before making off with large amounts of cash.
He spent 23 years policing Lancaster and Morecambe, where CCTV had been very successful: "It's not surprising we don't have bank robberies there any more."
PC Lees added that, if CCTV was first on his wish list', another police car was second.
Police operating from the station use one car between them and PC Lees said: "Sometimes we are having to queue up to use it."
He said the extra vehicle would be useful because of the large area the officers covered.
A Lancashire Constabulary fleet review is currently underway.
