A community policeman is urging Carnforth to consider installing closed circuit television cameras.

PC Barry Lees said two cameras which were able to swivel 360 degrees, one at the train station and one at the town centre crossroads, would cut crime in the town.

He said: "It's my personal campaign. The dividends are immense."

PC Lees said the cameras would stop crimes like the armed robbery in August, when men burst into the town's Barclays branch and terrorised staff before making off with large amounts of cash.
