KENDAL and Lakes branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club hosted 30 try-divers between the ages of 12 and 16 at Kendal Leisure Centre.
The youngsters were on an activity week in the Lakes organised by Paul Cooper from the Gurney Charity Fund for Police Orphans. The week is organised as an annual event for young people who have had a parent die in service.
Four of the scuba kits in use were bought using a Sport England Awards For All' grant specifically for this purpose.
Try-dives are organised to give anyone interested a taste of breathing underwater using a scuba unit in a safe, controlled environment.
Kendal branch is offering free try-dives (normally £10) as part of BSAC's national 'Come & Dive' campaign on September 28 and October 5 and 12 at Kendal Leisure Centre.
Anyone interested should contact the Kendal club chairman Gary Davis on 015395-67496 (evenings) or 07977-276276 (mobile).
