A LONE goal from full back Paul Gibson was enough to keep early season pace-setters Kirkby Lonsdale ahead of the British Energy North Lancs Football League pack.

The strike was enough to see off Boys Club and maintain Kirkby's advantage over surprise package CCM Dynamos at the top of the table.

CCM were also 1-0 winners - seeing off reigning champions Storey's thanks to a freakish goal from striker Darren True in the opening five minutes of their clash.

It came as the Storey keepr tried to make a clearance and the ball hit True and the back and rebounded into the empty goal.

Not that the CCM victory was undeserved, for the Dynamos always looked dangerous when going foward and had plenty of chances to increase the advantage against Storeys, who are obviously missing the injured defender Nick Pinnington.

Layton Young was outstanding for CCM, who had to survive a late onslaught as Storeys battled for a share of the spoils - and a Steve Stirzaker shot hit the bar before being cleared away to safety.

Ingleton are also going well at this early stage of the season, with Phil Eccleston, Chris Bibby and David Priest scoring the goals to give tham a 3-1 win over Morecambe Royals.

Squires hit top form for 70 minutes to score five times past a bewildered Caton United, scoring five times through a Peter Clarke hat trick backed by two goals for Neil Thompson.

But they took their foot off the pedal with the points safe and battling Caton at least regained some respect as Lee Stokes and Steve Beniston (2) made the final score 5-3.

Torrisholme have opened a five point lead at the top of Division One after coming from behind to beat Holme Athletic 3-1.

Holme were the better side in the opening 45 minutes but could only score once through Stuart Lord. And then Torrisholme took over with Alan Hoyle, Dean Knight and Andrew Thoms all on target.

Galgate took a 2-0 half time lead on their visit to Vine - but were then blown away in the second period as the home side found their touch and turned things around with goals by Andy ward, Tim Bathgate, Rob Lamb and Richard Simmones.

One of the most exciting matches of the day was the Division Two derby' clash between Caton Reserves and Halton Rangers which finished 5-4 to Rangers.

And it was almost as close as Torrisholme Reserves and Bare Rovers met in another neighbourly dispute - with Torrisholme edging it by the odd goal in five.
