MICHAEL Twiss inspired struggling Morecambe to a crucial three home points with a virtuoso display against Woking.
Classy Twiss tortured the Woking defence throughout the game as Jim Harvey's men finally showed something close to their true form.
The kick off was delayed by an hour after Woking were caught in a traffic snarl-up on the M61 and The Cards were left to wish they had turned around and gone home as the Shrimps started brightly.
Woking keeper Adriano Basso later berated by his manager Glen Cockerill over his display had to be alert to keep early Twiss efforts out and then he went full stretch to turn a thunderous Keiran Walmsley free kick away.
But the extrovert keeper was picking the ball out of his net after 24 minutes but that was largely of his own making.
Danny Carlton took the ball off Basso on the edge of the area after the keeper hesitated before finding Twiss, who had the easiest task in the world to roll into an unguarded net.
Michael Stringfellow almost doubled the lead seconds later but Basso saved well by the post as Morecambe looked about to run riot.
But things are never straightforward for Jim Harvey's men and Woking levelled matters with only their second serious attack of the match seven minutes before the break.
A speculative cross from Michael Johnson hit Scott Canham on the knee and rolled into the net past an agonised Adam Sollitt.
It was a fluke; it was lucky; but it made the score 1-1 non the less.
Woking were boosted by the goal with Canham looking dangerous but Sollitt held firm under pressure.
And his endeavour was rewarded with Morecambe wresting control back, thanks in the main to Twiss.
The ex-Chester City man was denied twice by the suddenly overworked Basso, while Garry Thompson was also thwarted by a smart stop from the keeper.
Another goal had to come and Morecambe won the match thanks to a combination of Twiss brilliance and Basso's blundering.
Twiss twisted and turned just outside the area before shooting at Basso but the keeper fumbled and Carlton reacted quickest to win the game with a tap in.
Woking had a couple of late chances to grab an undeserved equaliser but Sollitt and the defence held sway as Morecambe celebrated only their second win of the season.
Morecambe: Sollitt, Walmsley, Perkins, Swan (McFlynn 46), Bentley, Stringfellow, Twiss, Blackburn, Thompson (Hunter 78), Curtis, Carlton (Dodg-son 88) Unused subs: Mahoney, Rogan.
