Legal briefing for employers...
BUSINESSES can learn about changes to employment law at a seminar being held at the Stonecross Manor Hotel, Kendal, on September 23. Baines Wilson Solicitors are organising the briefing session, which will cover the new compulsory discipline dismissal and grievance procedures that come into force on October 1. "We will be providing guidance not only on the new rules but also on how to handle discipline and grievances fairly and in such a way as to avoid claims and minimise liability if a claim is brought," said law firm partner Rayner Jones. Solid growth...
THE North West saw another month of solid economic expansion in August, according to the latest business survey for the Royal Bank of Scotland. The rate of growth in both business activity and new orders both slowed from the previous month's strong level, possibly reflecting weaker export demand. But the bank said the outlook remained positive.
Holiday boom...
BUSINESS is booming for Coniston-based Coppermines and Lakes Cottages, which is celebrating selling more than £1 million worth of holidays, up 35 per cent on the same period last year. Proprietor Philip Johnston said the milestone was a tribute to the efforts of all the firm's staff and the loyalty of its customers.
